High inflation in the US and Europe, as well as in a significant part of the rest of the world, was the main macro theme of the first half of 2023. The US Federal Reserve and the ECB have managed to make some progress in combating rising prices, but it is too early to talk about a final victory over inflation, especially since the labor market in the US remains overheated. However, despite still significant concerns about inflationary pressure in America and Europe, China is beginning to cause increasing concern. The Chinese economy is facing an inability to resist chronic structural problems — an orientation towards infrastructure and export-oriented development at the expense of domestic consumption.
